Matthew R. Smith Trio have been pushing the boundaries of modern jazz since 2018 with a blend of deep grooves, strong melodies, rhythmic complexity, abstract textures and dynamic contrasts. They have recorded two albums, the first of which was released in 2019 entitled Vernal Equinox and their second, Action Brings Good Fortune, was released on June 17th, 2022. They have performed in NYC and New Jersey clubs such as Feinstein's 54 Below, Williamsburg Music Center, Made in NYC Jazz Cafe, The Watt Hotel, The One 16th and The Wyndham.
